We woke up early due to the time difference. The news was reporting that Staten Island (just south of us) had been on two tornado alerts last night, so glad that we opted for an early night.
As the clouds started to break up and we caught a glimpse of blue sky so decided to visit the
Empire State Building early to avoid the queues.
There was no queuing at 08:10 but by the time we had reach the 86th floor (and our ears had popped) the cloud cover had returned and we had very limited views. We spent about an hour at the top waiting for the sky to clear but it didn't improve.
Just below Times Square as we walked to pier 83 for a Landmark Cruise.
We are booked to visit The Statue of Liberty tomorrow for a closer look.
Top deck of the Staten Island ferry packed with tourists taking the free ferry ride to Staten Island and back for views of The Statue of Liberty and Manhattan.
The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
Aircraft Carrier USS Intrepid commissioned in 1943 and used in the Pacific.
Space Shuttle Enterprise was used in test flights and was launched from a Boeing 747.
I was quite surprised at the size of the Shuttle, much bigger than expected.
Cruise Missile Submarine USS Growler was used as a nuclear deterrent in the Cold War.
Armed with 4 Regulus 1 Cruise Missiles with nuclear capabilities. The submarine would operate submerged off the Pacific Coast of the Soviet Union.
We stopped for a drink after a busy day.
It then started to rain heavy so we had to sit it out with another drink or two :-).
